Welcome to Sodus Bay Yacht Club!
I would like to thank our friends and fellow-boaters from Rochester Yacht Club for co-sponsoring what has become a great highlight of our social calender: Labor Day Pirate's Weekend! This event both renews a great tradition from decades past, of holding a special pull-out-all-the-stops party to celebrate the last weekend of the summer boating season which includes our friends from RYC. At the same time, the Pirate theme brings a new twist, and has proven to be a great vehicle for bringing all the different facets of the yacht club community together, including families, young members, children, senior boaters, racers, cruisers, socialites, sail and power, etc.
Our club's by-laws specify the purpose of our club as,
among other things, to promote and encourage interest in yachting, and
provide for the recreation of our members. The by-laws don't specifically
mention fun, nor "shivering timbers", but I think we can infer that's included,
and Pirate's Weekend certainly provides all of the above!
