The schooner LOTUS was launched on May 12th, 1918 as "Miss Glouchester" on Lake Erie. In 1922 she was sailed into Lake Ontario by Sodus Bay Yacht Club member Stephen E. Comstock and renamed LOTUS after the unique American lotus plants found in Great Sodus Bay, where Mr. Comstock berthed the yacht.

LOTUS now serves the Sea Explorer Scout program as a tool for teching boys and girls maritime leadership skills and foster a love and respect for the water and the seas. In 1991, LOTUS was named to the National Register of Historic Places and the Otelana Council set forth with an aggressive rehabilitation project, which was completed in 1993.

The LOTUS / Sea Scout program needs helpers, volunteers and participants! Craftsmen, woodworkers, go-fers, organizers, anyone willing to contribute and sail! Call the number below for more information!
