ABOUT Sodus Bay Yacht
Club

Most people join a yacht club to share their yachting interests with others, and to establish friendships and camaraderie through an active boating and social calendar. Sometimes, friendships are made that last a lifetime!
Socially, SBYC offers a professionally run dining room and bar service, pre-season and post season potluck dinners, dinner dances, musical entertainment, and festivities focused around special events and holidays.

Whether it be sail or power, racers or cruisers, there
are numerous opportunities to participate in group boating activities
including
the Annual Club Cruise, weekend cruises, the Antique Boat Show,
learning
seminars, day trips, race and regatta events, and/or just "gunkholing"
in a quiet corner on the bay.
SBYC enjoys reciprocal privileges with most yacht
clubs
around Lake Ontario and the Thousand Island Region. As a member of the
Lake Yacht Racing Association (LYRA), and the Eastern Yachting
Conference
(EYC), the Sodus Bay Yacht Club has been a frequent host of some of the
most prestigious yacht races around Lake Ontario. The SBYC racing
program
provides a venue for PHRF handicap divisions, white-sail divisions (no
spinnaker), and one design fleets such as 8-Meteres, J-24s, Lightnings,
and Lasers.

The racing scene encourages participation at all levels
- from large boats to small boats, from novice skippers to experienced
skippers, from the race course to the front lawn, patio, dining room
and
bar. There is something for everyone - including course racing series,
long distance races, club challenges, and special fun races, with
corallary
social gatherings at the club afterwards.
Since
1893, the Sodus Bay Yacht Club has brought the traditions and joyful
experience
of yacht club membership to the boating families and individuals in the
Central and Western New York areas. The Club is located on Great Sodus
Bay, renowned to be the best natural harbor on the south shore of Lake
Ontario. This location affords boaters the choice of sailing on
beautiful
Lake Ontario, or on the protected waters of Sodus Bay, depending on
wind,
weather, waves, and skipper preference.
SBYC is surprisingly affordable, without
compromising
the services and amenities offered by pricier clubs. SBYC has a large,
comfortable clubhouse with extensive grounds and facilities. Our
clubhouse
facility includes an adult bar/lounge, professionally run restaurant,
children's
playroom, library, patio and deck. On the club's waterfront, SBYC
boasts
a large number of docks and moorings, both for seasonal use, and for
visiting
boats. Other boating facilities include, clean bathrooms with private
showers,
boat hoist, launch ramp, pump-out station, picnic pavilion with gas
barbecue
grills, beach, swim area, dinghy storage, dry-sail storage, loading and
unloading areas, and ample parking.
