Welcome to the Sodus Bay Yacht Club website!

SBYC Commodore Bob White

On these pages you will find descriptive information regarding our Club and beautiful Great Sodus Bay, as well as links to other points of interest in the Sodus Point area.

Our club was founded 114 years ago and is one of the oldest on Lake Ontario.  SBYC has a well-deserved reputation as one of the friendliest clubs on the lake with a proud heritage rooted in boating tradition.  We have an active racing program that challenges our club racing fleet.  We also play host to a number of annual and occasional regattas open to other clubs. Our cruising fleet regularly sets sail to ports near and far, both in flotilla fashion and in smaller groups of like minded skippers. We recently added a small fleet of Ideal 18 full keel sailboats, available to our members, for those who don’t own boats or just want to get on the bay in a smaller way.

When not on the water, our members enjoy all the benefits of a full social calendar.  Our Antique Boat Show in early June is open to the public and our traditional 4th of July Fun Race which is open to all sailors are great ways to spend a day in the Great Sodus Bay area.  You’ll find information on these and other club activities available here on the web site.

As you explore our site I’m sure you’ll quickly understand why we have become a must-stop for cruising boats on Lake Ontario.  The clubhouse boasts a full bar and restaurant for your dining pleasure and is a short stroll from the shops, sights, and restaurants of Sodus Point! If your travels bring you to the Great Sodus Bay area and “The Point”, we invite you to stop by the club and discover for yourself what the SBYC experience is all about!
