Welcome to the Sodus Bay Yacht Club website!

On these pages you will find descriptive information regarding the Sodus Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) and beautiful Great Sodus Bay, as well as links to other points of interest in the Sodus Point, NY area.

Our SBYC was founded in 1893, 117 years ago and is one of the oldest yacht clubs on Lake Ontario. SBYC has a well deserved reputation as one of the friendliest clubs on both sides of the lake with a proud heritage rooted in a strong boating tradition. We have an active racing program that challenges our club racing fleet. We also play host to a number of annual and occasional special regattas open to other yacht clubs. In June we host our Challenge Cup Regatta which is growing in participation each year with boats from around the Lake coming to SBYC for the great weekend of high level racing. Our cruising fleet (sail and power) regularly travel to other ports near and far, both in flotilla fashion and in smaller groups visiting other yacht clubs. SBYC has provided a small fleet of four “Ideal 18” full keel sailboats, available to our members that don’t currently own a boat or to other members that just want to sail a smaller boat on the bay.

When not on the water, our members enjoy all the benefits of a full social calendar. In the spring members host “Early Bird” dinners, while in the fall “Die Hard” club dinners are hosted. Our traditional Memorial Day sail pass, blessing of the fleet, and brunch is a popular event; as well as the 4th of July Fun Race which is open to all sailors on Great Sodus Bay. SBYC is a cooperative club where all hands pitch in on social and work related events; this is another great way to socialize with your fellow members while helping to hold down the expenses of the club. Every year we host other family and community events, you’ll find information on these and other club activities here on the website.

As you explore our website I’m sure you’ll quickly understand why we have become a must stop destination for cruising and racing boats on Lake Ontario. The clubhouse boasts a full bar and the restaurant for your dining pleasure. We are located just a short walk to shops, sights, beaches, and public restaurants in Sodus Point. If your travels bring you to Great Sodus Bay at Sodus Point, NY we invite you to stop by the club and discover for yourself what SBYC experience is all about!
