Racing

Racing is one of the attractions of our club. If you read through our history you'll find this is deep within our culture. Our members' boats are adorned with the success of the program as they actively compete around Lake Ontario and beyond. We have an active Performance Handicap Racing Fleet, Lake Ontario (PHRF-LO) fleet. More information can be found at http://www.phrf-lo.org/ . We host the annual Challenge Cup Regatta which is a Lake Yacht Racing Association (LYRA) Tier 2 counter event for the awarding of the LYRA Boat Of The Year. Club racing includes Spring, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Fall, and Long Distance Series racing.

Good To Know! Sail for Hospice and Challenge Cup are two weekends of sailing and racing fun in a row. The great news is that if you register for both events, SBYC is allowing you to keep your boat at the club for free for the week between races free of charge as space allows. So don't delay, register your boat today!

8 Metres

SBYC has a history of members owning and sailing 8-metre sailboats. After a hiatus of having a small fleet at SBYC, they're making SBYC their home port once again. Among them is the return of the all wooden 8-metre, "Natural". Its legacy includes the 1995 World Cup 1st place trophy hosted in the Netherlands. The following year in 1996, SBYC hosted the 8 Metre Worlds Event.
