Sail for Hospice
Sodus Bay Yacht Club hosted the 2022 Southeast Hospice Regatta. Proceeds were split to benefit Oswego Hospice, and the two hospice homes in Wayne County - Pines of Peace, and the Laurel House. The regatta included kayak races, radio-controlled boat racing, music, good food and comradery. We would like to thank Larry Sill, who served as PRO.
Funds Raised: $ still calculating
What an amazing event to benefit hospice care in Wayne County. A big thanks to Fran Doyle for organizing the event given that Oswego Yacht Club could not host this year as they have done in years past. We enjoyed SBYC's first ever RC boat regatta thanks to member Chris Hubbell's know-how and enthusiasm. Music by Eric Will on Friday night was a hit on the patio. Saturday kicked off a very hot and slow start to the race before the marks were moved to the bay for the official start. The evening ended with a member-made BBQ chicken dinner and awards. This year, the overall winner was Terrapin crew!

In 2022, the Sail for Hospice Regatta was in memory of Ginny Gary. Ginny was instrumental in the inception of Friends of Oswego County Hospice and the Oswego Hospice Cup Regatta. She absolutely loved to sail and was known to calmly go down below in foul weather and read a book! Ginny passed away in December 2021. She has left us with wonderful memories and a legacy through the continuing Friends of Oswego County Hospice and the Oswego Hospice Cup Regatta. John Gary sailed on Crusader during this event.
